In Situ X?Ray Diffraction Analysis of Microstructure Evolution during Deep Cryogenic Treatment and Tempering of Tool Steels

چکیده
Deep cryogenic treatment of tool steels, incorporated in conventional hardening and tempering, has been a topic intensive research recent years. Yet, the governing microstructural mechanisms involved deep high-alloyed steels are still controversial. Thus, an situ X-ray diffraction study is conducted on three X38CrMoV5-3, X153CrMoV12, ~X190CrVMo20-4 to shed light evolution during subsequent tempering. For these transformation retained austenite into martensite detected cooling phase treatment. A change tetragonality occurs mainly heating tempering process, which indicates diffusion carbon carbide precipitation from martensite. The microstructure after hardening, treatment, further examined by scanning electron microscopy.

Investigating the Effect of the Deep Cryogenic Heat Treatment on the Mechanical Properties and Corrosion Behavior of 1.2080 Tool Steel
Deep cryogenic heat treatment is assumed as a supplementary heat treatment performed on steels before the final tempering treatment to enhance the wear resistance and hardness of the steels. In this study, the effects of the deep cryogenic heat treatment on the wear behavior and corrosion resistance of the 1.2080 tool steel were studied using the wear testing machine and polarization and impeda...

Cryogenic treatment can be used as a supplemental treatment that is performed on some tool steels between quenching and tempering as an effective method for decreasing retained austenite and increasing wear resistance. In this research, the effect of deep cryogenic treatment (DCT) on dimensional stability and mechanical properties of 80CrMo12 5 tool steel was investigated. The martensitic trans...
متن کاملDeep Cryogenic Treatment of Alloy Steels : A Review
The word, “Cryogenics” is taken from two Greek words – “kryos” which means cold or freezing, and “genes” meaning born or generated. Technologically, it means the study and use of materials (or other requirements) at very low temperatures. In general cryogenic treatment consists of slow cooling already heat treated part to approximately -196C, holding at low temperature up to prescribed period, ...
